Perkins Specialized Transportation is currently seeking employees for the following careers:

DRIVING CAREERS:

All field employees are required to have a valid driver license with a clean driving record, pass a strict DOT physical and background check plus be able to go into Canada.


Pay Grade-E4

(Equipment Operators with Class A CDL)
Summary:  This career opportunity is like no other and because of this, it requires employees to be away from home 4 – 6 weeks at a time. This rewarding career is labor intensive so it requires candidates to be able to work in all different kinds of elements as well as be able to lift 75 pounds. This career includes a base salary, plus field assignment pay that will pay you for every day that you are away from home. In addition, employees receive a per diem of $40 per day when away from home, company paid individual accommodations and much more. All employees in the ‘pay grade system’ are given a list of tasks to complete at the beginning of employment. Once these tasks are accomplished (usually within 12-16 months of hire) the employee will be given a substantial raise in salary. Bigger pay is not just words at Perkins Specialized! OFFICE:

Perkins Specialized Transportation Contracting offers it office employees a great
work environment with state of the art equipment to help them perform the tasks that are required. 

Staff Accountant

Position Overview:
The Staff Account will provide support to the Accounting Department while assisting the Operations and Compliance departments as needed.

Areas of Responsibilities:
Payroll
· Control payroll reporting
· Audit field personnel envelopes and distribute paper work to appropriate departments
· Maintain payroll Cafe balances
Operational Accounting
· Maintain the Permit Calculator
· Qualify third party escorts
· Maintain truck licensing books
· Overview of IFTA filings (Qrtly)
· Control of crew radios
· Assist with project support as required
Accounts Receivable
· Invoice Trade AR
· Audit and invoice third party billing
· Maintain revenue backlog spreadsheet
Accounting
· General Ledger account reconciliation as required
· Maintain Data sheets
· Additional tasks as assigned
Operational Credit Cards
· Credit card reconciliation (Fuel and Expense)

Required Skills/Qualifications:
· Minimum two (2) year Accounting degree (Bachelors degree preferred)
· Good verbal and written communication abilities
· Self Motivated
· Follow direction and take instruction well
· Understands the importance of meeting deadlines
· Ability to multi task
· Strong organizational skills
· Strong computer skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
· Two (2) years transportation experience a plus
· Ability to take the initiative
· Able to work in a team environment

SHOP/EQUIPMENT SERVICES:

Metal Fabrication/Welding Job

Position Overview:
· Welding and Metal Fabrication for state of the art equipment that
  help move some of the biggest hauls in North America
· Work with different types of equipment and materials to complete assigned projects
· Arc welding, cutting, grinding, bending and forming
· Pride of a quality finished project
· Work in a clean and safe work environment

Position Minimum Requirements:
· Proficiency in organizing and attention to detail
· The ability to follow a schedule and meet deadlines
· Strong blue print reading skills
· Must have at least two years welding experience (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW)
· Able to lift 75 pounds 

 

 

Assembler

Position Overview:
Immediate opening for an outstanding candidate to assist in the assembly and disassembly of trailers and equipment used in heavy haul transport. The Assembler plays a key role in ensuring our equipment is safe and ready to get the (BIG) job done! If you want to be a part of building something bigger, apply today!

Areas of Responsibilities:
• Assembly and Disassembly of trailers
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
• Forklift and Crane Inspections
• Maintain a clean and safe shop
• Washing equipment
• Parts running
• Warehouse organization

Required Skills/Qualifications:
• Experience working with hand tools
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Experience reading drawings
• Experience in trucking industry

Minimum Academic Qualification or Equivalent:
• High school diploma or equivalent


 

 

Fluid Power Specialist

Position Overview:
We are seeking an in house expert on all fluid power operations and design, specializing in heavy equipment. If you are up for the challenge of working on extraordinarily unique and innovative equipment you are encouraged to apply!

Areas of Responsibilities:
• Design Fluid Power System
• Installation of new hydraulic systems
• Modifying and improving existing hydraulic systems
• Maintain fluid power parts inventory
• Maintain a clean and safe shop
• Perform quality control checks before equipment

Required Skills/Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years experience working on hydraulic systems
• Strong mechanical/electrical knowledge in relation to the mobile hydraulic industry
• Tool inventory capable of making most related repairs
• Minimum 1 year experience with a repair order/inventory software program
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Experience working with heavy duty road tractors and multi axle trailers
• Experience with maintaining a parts inventory
• Experience repairing hydraulic components
• Experience in the operation of forklifts and overhead cranes

Minimum Academic Qualification or Equivalent:
• AAS degree in Fluid Power and/or 5 years minimum experience working as a technician in the fluid power industry.

The hours for the FPS are as follows: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm. Employees must have some flexibility and be available for overtime in order to accommodate for special projects and to meet deadlines.
